‘EXAM’ instigates a sense of fear in the hearts of most of the students!

Many times, even with proper preparation, students get cold feet in the examination hall and that ruins their exams. Preparation has no substitute! Not only when it comes to doing well in the exam but also understanding the correct answers and proper preparation boosts up your confidence.

Below are some essential preparations hacks that will let you stay ahead and confident in preparing for the exam:

Planning Ahead: The idea is to study in small pockets, which is much less stressful and much more productive than studying for insane hours just before the exams!

To analyse what works best for you: We are all very different from each other. What works for me may well prove to be a disaster for you. It is the same with studies.

Take a lot of tests: Get hold of a lot of practice papers from somewhere and solve them after finishing each chapter. The more such tests that you take, the more you will be confident and comfortable with solving questions.

Group Study: Researchers have shown that studying in groups can significantly improve the ability to understand a topic. It is beneficial for commerce subjects to a great extent.

Sleep: Getting a minimum of 7-8 hours of sleep before examination days is a must. Studies have shown that sleep increases alertness of the brain and reduces stress.

Don’t overdo anything: You have to know when you need to stop studying! Over-stuffing the brain is not a good idea, especially just before the exams.

Motivate and energise yourself on the day of the exam: Start the exam day on a positive note. Wake up early in the morning and do something that relaxes you. This will help you focus better.

Take a chill pill: You need to remind yourself that you have prepared well for the exam and there is no reason that you should be worried. Take a deep breath and go for it!

In relation to above points, consider these action points also:

  1. When you start your study first you have to understand the concepts, preparing notes, reading the case studies and using new age tools such as material available on the internet which could be useful.
  2. If you are bored studying all day long, you can take a break and play various games like Badminton or table tennis else you can even take a walk.
  3. You can make a timetable for your study and look for how much time you take to cover your syllabus, thinking which topics are easy or difficult for you. It helps you to develop your study strategy.

While your Boards and/or Professional exams are important, don’t forget that when prioritising a study schedule, you must also leave room for healthy food, exercise and sleep –

It can be difficult to pay attention to your health when exams are on your mind, but it’s important to adopt some healthy habits into your study routine. Not only will they help decrease your stress and keep your body running on the nutrients it needs to succeed, but these tips can help you focus better!

First and foremost, healthy eating such as whole grains, oatmeal etc. will increase the effectiveness of your study. Eating a healthy breakfast is very important for you to concentrate, especially if you have a morning exam! If you don’t have time for a full meal, eat healthy, delicious study snacks that are easy to eat on the go!

To keep your brain alert, drink plenty of water to keep hydrated. While it’s tempting to drink a lot of coffee and subsist solely on fast food or snacks, it is pretty dehydrating, and there’s nothing worse than a caffeine crash halfway through an exam! Another reason to avoid caffeine is that it can impinge on your ability to get a good night’s sleep. Our Marksmate App can take care of study planning, but you need to plan your schedule along with it.

Another vital practice to boost your study success is exercise. A 15 min power walk, squats, yoga or a short jog, can make you feel much calmer and refresh your mind while studying. Physical activity can aid your body by rejuvenating your brain cells, helping your concentration.

And last but not least….GET SOME SLEEP!

While insomnia can be caused by stress anxiety or the simple need to use that time to study, it is so important to be well rested. Sleep will improve your concentration and energy. Lack of sleep can make you feel stressed! Adequate sleep has been shown to be able to increase your motor skills by 20% as well! Memory recall is improved after a good night’s sleep.

The exams are neither the beginning nor the end of the world. Planning your study schedule with Marksmate App will benefit you in proper planning ahead.
